Does your university invest in the arms trade?
Many UK universities and colleges invest in arms companies, often without the knowledge or approval of their students, staff and beneficiaries. The University Clean Investment Campaign aims to: alert students and staff to the investment decisions which are being made by the financial officers of their colleges and universities; give them the tools so that they can hold them to account; and help break the links between arms companies and higher education.
Since the campaign began in 2005 it has met with a great response from students and staff across the UK, with several universities either selling their arms company shares or taking real steps towards ethical investment. The current campaign aims to build on these successes by helping people discover whether their university invests in arms companies and giving advice and ideas on how you can get your university to divest and implement an ethical investment policy.
